What is a company CIBIL Score?
The term company CIBIL Score commonly refers to a business’s CIBIL credit standing. CIBIL uses different products for businesses and individuals.
A CIBIL Company Credit Report (CCR) records the company’s credit history based on information submitted by lending institutions. Lenders use the report when assessing commercial borrowers. Where available, the CIBIL Rank condenses that credit information into a single number from 1 to 10.
Does a company have a CIBIL Score like an individual?
While individuals are given a CIBIL Score, businesses are assessed through the Company Credit Report and CIBIL Rank.
The Rank serves a similar purpose to the CIBIL Score for individuals, but it is not the same scoring product. The current CIBIL Rank is available for companies with current credit exposure of up to Rs 50 crore.
This distinction matters when searching for a company CIBIL Score check online. Look for the CIBIL Rank and Company Credit Report, not an individual CIBIL Score report.

How to check business credit score in India?
Different credit information products can use different measures.
For a CIBIL-specific check, the relevant records are the Company Credit Report and CIBIL Rank. If the business is checking its credit standing before applying for a loan, the CCR is the more detailed document because it contains the underlying credit information rather than just the summary rank.
What is a business credit profile?
A business credit profile is the company’s record of borrowing and repayment activity reported by lending institutions.
CIBIL’s Company Credit Report includes information on the company’s credit facilities and repayment history. It also includes details such as outstanding obligations and lender enquiries.
The profile belongs to the commercial entity. Do not be confuse it with the personal CIBIL profile of the company’s director, proprietor, or partner.
How is a company’s creditworthiness assessed?
Lenders look at the company’s credit information along with other aspects of the loan application.
Lenders use the Company Credit Report to evaluate commercial loan applications. Its commercial evaluation material identifies capacity, collateral, and finance as broad areas lenders consider. Capacity includes the firm’s ability to repay the additional debt, based on its current and expected earnings.
Within the CIBIL Rank itself, past repayment behavior and credit utilization are key factors. The CCR gives lenders the underlying credit history used in that assessment.
A CIBIL rank check for business, or a CCR check, is therefore one part of a lender’s assessment. It does not, by itself, guarantee loan approval.
How to check CIBIL Rank for a business?
The company can purchase its CIBIL Rank and Company Credit Report directly from CIBIL.
After completing the online purchase and verification process, the company can access the commercial dashboard and view its current CIBIL Rank and CCR. You can refresh the report every seven days during the subscription period.
If online authentication is unsuccessful, CIBIL provides a document-upload process. The documents required depend on the type of business.
What does a CIBIL Rank indicate?
The CIBIL Rank summarises the company’s Company Credit Report on a scale of 1 to 10.
Rank 1 is the best, while a higher number indicates a weaker credit-risk position. The Rank is based mainly on factors including past repayment behaviour and credit utilisation.
The Rank is currently available for companies with current credit exposure of up to Rs 50 crore. If a CIBIL Rank is shown as NA, CIBIL lists several possible reasons, including exposure outside the applicable range or no live credit facility in the past 36 months.
What is included in a company Credit Report?
A CIBIL Company Credit Report contains the company’s reported credit history. Depending on the report, this can include:
- Company identification and borrower details
- Credit facilities and lender information
- Outstanding amounts
- Repayment and payment-status information
- Credit utilisation
- Credit enquiries made by lenders
- Details relating to delinquencies and other reported credit information
- CIBIL Rank, where applicable
The CCR is more useful than looking at the Rank alone when checking for reporting errors or understanding why the company’s credit profile looks the way it does.
If information is inaccurate, CIBIL provides a commercial dispute process. CIBIL itself does not independently change lender-reported information; corrections require confirmation from the relevant credit institution.
Why should a company check its business Credit Report?
A company should review its CCR before applying for significant business credit, particularly if it has existing loans or working-capital facilities.
The report can reveal the credit facilities and payment information that lenders may see during a commercial loan assessment. It can also help the company identify incorrect information or unfamiliar enquiries before they become an issue during a loan application.
Regular checks also help track changes in the company’s credit profile, rather than waiting until it needs finance.
How often should a company check its Credit Report?
For businesses actively monitoring their credit profile, CIBIL’s current subscription plans provide weekly refreshes of the CIBIL Rank and CCR during the subscription period.
A practical time to check business credit score in India is before a major business-loan application or after resolving a reporting issue. If the company has ongoing borrowing activity, more frequent monitoring can help catch changes sooner.
