What is Aadhaar Update History
Aadhaar update history is the official record of every change made to your Aadhaar since it was issued updates to demographic details such as name address date of birth gender mobile number and email as well as biometric updates. Maintained by UIDAI it exists so that residents can verify that requested changes were applied correctly and detect any modification they did not authorise. It is a permanent non-editable record; the history cannot be deleted which preserves it as a reliable audit trail. Accessing it is free and the record can be viewed and downloaded online. It should not be confused with authentication history which is addressed separately below.

Step-by-Step: View Update History on myAadhaar (2026)
The history is available only online through the myAadhaar portal and requires access to your Aadhaar-registered mobile.
- Visit the official portal at myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in and log in.
- Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number (or Virtual ID) and the captcha.
- Enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile or a TOTP from the Aadhaar app.
- Open the Aadhaar Update History section to view the list of updates.
- To keep a copy use the print option to save the record as a PDF.
A registered mobile is essential as verification depends on the OTP. The history cannot be viewed at an enrolment centre; it is an online-only service.
How to Interpret Update Records
Each entry documents a single update. The key fields are the Update Request Number (URN) which identifies the request and is used to track its status; the date of the update; and the type of update demographic biometric or a new-Aadhaar request. The record also displays the associated demographic details and your photograph allowing you to confirm accuracy. Read the entries against your own recollection of the changes you have made: each one should correspond to a request you initiated. An update you recognise with the correct details confirms the change was processed; an entry you do not recognise warrants the action set out in the next section.
What to Do If You See Unauthorized Updates
If the history shows a change you did not request treat it as a potential security concern and act promptly. Report it to UIDAI through the helpline 1947 or by email to help@uidai.gov.in and file a formal grievance through the myAadhaar portal quoting the relevant URN. As a protective measure lock your biometrics through the portal or the Aadhaar app so they cannot be used for authentication while the matter is investigated and review your authentication history for any unfamiliar use. Update History vs Authentication History
These two records are often confused but serve different purposes. Update history shows the changes made to your Aadhaar record what was altered and when. Authentication history shows where and when your Aadhaar was used to verify your identity for example at a bank or telecom and returns the requesting agency the type of authentication and whether it succeeded. In short update history tracks modifications to your data; authentication history tracks usage of your identity.
