PM Kisan Aadhaar eKYC: Check Your Status
If you’re enrolled in PM-KISAN and haven’t completed your Aadhaar eKYC yet your ₹2000 installments could be on hold regardless of whether you’re fully eligible. The official PM-KISAN portal has a permanent notice about this and the government has been consistent: no eKYC means no payment. This guide covers what eKYC is why it’s required how to complete it online or at a CSC and how to check whether yours is done.

What is PM Kisan eKYC
PM-KISAN (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi) launched in February 2019 and gives eligible farmer families ₹6000 a year in three installments of ₹2000 each sent directly to their bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
eKYC is the Aadhaar-based step that confirms you are the genuine registered beneficiary by matching your identity against UIDAI records. There are three official ways to do it:
OTP-based (online): Enter your Aadhaar number and verify with a one-time password sent to your Aadhaar-linked mobile. Works on the PM-KISAN portal or app. Best option if your mobile is already linked to Aadhaar.
Biometric at a CSC: Verify using a fingerprint or iris scan at a common service center. Useful when your mobile isn’t linked to Aadhaar.
Face Authentication (mobile app): Scan your face through the PM-KISAN app which was introduced by the GoI in 2023. Works even without a mobile linked to Aadhaar.
If one method doesn’t work for you one of the others usually will.
Why Aadhaar eKYC is Mandatory for PM-KISAN
The government made eKYC compulsory for all registered beneficiaries from the 15th instalment onwards. The reasons are practical:
It confirms genuine beneficiaries so each payment goes to a real eligible farmer whose details actually match PM-KISAN records. It removes fraud and duplicate entries preventing the same person from being paid twice. And with identity verified and the Aadhaar-linked bank account confirmed the ₹2000 transfer goes through cleanly via DBT with fewer delays.
The bottom line is simple: without eKYC your next payment can be delayed or withheld even if everything else is in order. That’s why officials consistently urge farmers to finish it well before an instalment release rather than at the last minute.
Step-by-Step: PM Kisan eKYC via OTP Online (2026)
This is the fastest route if the mobile number registered with your Aadhaar is active.
- Open the official portal pmkisan.gov.in
- In the Farmers Corner section on the homepage click eKYC
- Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number and click Search
- Enter the mobile number linked with your Aadhaar and click Get OTP
- Enter the OTP on that mobile and submit
- A confirmation appears on success and your eKYC is updated
The OTP is valid for about 10 minutes so enter it without delay. If the portal is slow around an instalment release try early morning or late evening when traffic is lower. The same OTP process is available on the PMKISAN GoI mobile app which offers face authentication as a second option. For face authentication download both the PM KISAN app and the Aadhaar Face RD app open eKYC in the PM KISAN app choose Face Authentication and scan your face in good lighting. It’s a genuinely useful fallback if you can’t receive an OTP.
Step-by-Step: PM Kisan eKYC at a CSC Centre
If your mobile number isn’t linked to Aadhaar or the OTP and face methods aren’t working biometric eKYC at a Common Service Centre is the reliable fallback.
- Find your nearest CSC or Jan Seva Kendra using the CSC locator portal
- Carry your Aadhaar card and your PM Kisan registration number
- Tell the operator you want to complete PM Kisan eKYC (biometric)
- The operator captures your fingerprint or iris scan and verifies it against UIDAI records
- On a successful match your eKYC status updates on the portal. Ask for a receipt or confirmation before leaving.
CSC operators charge a small service fee typically around ₹15 to ₹30. If a fingerprint isn’t matching (common among farmers due to manual work) ask the operator to try a different finger or switch to iris or OTP instead.
How to Check PM Kisan eKYC Status
After completing eKYC by any method the update typically shows within about 24 hours. Here’s how to verify:
- Go to pmkisan.gov.in and open Farmers Corner
- Click Know Your Status (Beneficiary Status)
- Enter your registration number. If you don’t have it use the option to find it via your Aadhaar or mobile number
- Enter the captcha and complete OTP verification
- Your screen shows your eKYC status payment history and next installment details
You can check through the PMKISAN GoI app or the Kisan e-Mitra chatbot as well. If your status still shows eKYC pending after a day go through the process again since a pending status is one of the most common reasons installments don’t arrive.
