Punjab National Bank Overview

Punjab National Bank (PNB), India's first Swadeshi bank, began operations from Lahore on April 12, 1895, with an authorised capital of Rs. 2 lakhs and working capital of Rs. 20,000. The bank was founded in the spirit of nationalism and was the first bank controlled entirely by Indians with Indian capital. During the Bank's long history, nine banks have merged or amalgamated with PNB.
