Pre-open Timings to Trade Equities

Pre-open timings to trade equities refer to the period of time before the stock market opens for trading. Market participants use this period to prepare for the trading day. The pre-open period is also used to calculate the opening price of a security. This pre-open session is scheduled for 15 minutes, starting at 9:00 am and ending at 9:15 am. It consists of the order collection period and the matching order period. 

Regular Trading Timings to Trade Equities

The regular trading hours for the National Stock Exchange (NSE) are between 09:00 am and 03:30 pm IST on all weekdays except Saturdays and Sundays. The NSE trading hours are divided into three sessions, namely, the morning session, the afternoon session, and the evening session.

The morning session begins at 09:00 am and ends at 11:55 am, and the afternoon session starts at noon and ends at 02:30 pm. The evening session begins at 03:00 pm and ends at 03:30 pm.

The NSE is closed on all national holidays and the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. On days when the NSE is closed, no trading takes place. However, you can still place orders for the next trading day.

Block Deal Session Timings

The Block Deal Session on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) occurs twice daily.

Session 1: Morning Block Deal Window (first session): This window is scheduled to operate from 8:00 am to 9:00 am.

Session 2: Afternoon Block Deal Window (second session): The session will run between 2:00 and 2:30 pm.
